Last updated September 2026. Plain-language summary; have a lawyer review before relying on it as your formal policy.
What we collect
Your name and email from Google sign-in. What you and your co-parent add: calendar details, expenses, messages, documents, and any email or WhatsApp history you choose to import.
Who can see it
Only the parents in your family. Nobody else, including a lawyer or mediator, sees anything unless you export it and share it yourself.
What we never do
We don't sell your data. We don't show ads. We don't use your family's information to train AI models.
Google access
We ask for calendar access to sync your custody schedule, and read-only Gmail access so we can bring in email between you and your co-parent, and only that. You can revoke access anytime in your Google Account security settings.
AI features
Calmer-message rewrites, the private message check and the Plan Parser send the relevant text to our AI provider to process it, then return the result. The private message check is never stored.
Texts, iMessage and call logs
No app can read these on your phone; Apple and Android don't allow it. You can log them manually in your Communication Record.
Analytics
With your permission only, we use Google Analytics to understand which public pages help families most. It never runs inside your family's account, and you can say no on the banner with no effect on how Tandem works.
If you live outside North America
If you're in the UK, the EU, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand, you have the right to see, correct, export and delete your data, and to complain to your local privacy regulator. Use the contact form and we'll respond within one month.
Your choices
Export your full record anytime. Ask us to delete your account and your data is removed from our systems within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep it.
Where it's stored
On our hosting provider's infrastructure, encrypted in transit. Questions about privacy or your data? Use our contact form.
